The end of this blog
I have decided to close this blog down. That's the good news. The bad news is that I have started a new one - it's about my life in London. http://www.mylondonlifecontinues.blogspot.com

A new linocut
Thanks to the good people at East London Printmakers, London and their open access programme (Thursday and Saturday) I am able to carry on with my printmaking. Here is a first exercise: the detail of a siren from a projected work 'Classical Jug: Ulysses and the Siren. Cheers.

Alabama Song
Here's my latest....an etching (and aquatint) concerning the life and times of Jenny, the main character in Brecht and Weill's 'Rise and Fall of the city of Mahagonny'. I hope I can get to do more of the project.

About Me
- bazart
- London, United Kingdom
- My name is Barry Smith and I am a London-based Australian artist and illustrator. At various times in my career I have made portraits; a writer and illustrator of books for children; a chronicler of the street life and architecture in the East End of London ; I am currently interested in printmaking. I am fascinated by Noir which for me encompasses the photographs of Weegee, Brassai, photographs from the police department of Sydney, NSW. It includes the neo realist European cinema of the late l940s as well as the Hollywood output of the same period. I love a good story and products from the age of anxiety that came in the l940s.
